San Francisco Veteran's Memorial

I was working on the courtyard improvements for the Veteran's War Memorial Installation project in San Francisco over this past spring. We finished in time for the Opening Ceremony on October 10 kicking off fleet week in the city.

Ceremonious start before I knew this was going to be my assignment:
My company installed all improvements around the memorial in the courtyard including drains, paving, and landscaping.

That's the superintendent standing in the picture here and I might be somewhere in the area behind him:

It was a great experience to see it all built and attend the opening ceremony where I bumped shoulders with the SF Chief of Police (oops hahah). News coverage about the event is here: http://abc7news.com/politics/82-years-later-san-francisco-finally-gets-war-memorial/345298/

The finished memorial has a website: http://www.sfwmpac.org/veterans-memorial

Insider Fun Facts:
1. The grass lawn we installed at the new Veteran's Courtyard is the same sod installed at the 49ers new Levi's Stadium.
2. The sacred soil we saved to put in the box looks like regular soil.
3. The new brick pavers were custom made to match the old existing bricks already in the courtyard.

Hope you enjoyed the read and are inspired to support our veterans!
