Here is an exclusive glimpse into the abandoned wasteland of the closed Navy Shipyard. Only people with a security pass could come through the gates and meander these gray-washed streets. Well... copper miners and shady vagrants still got in. As I drove around these dilapidated buildings, I would imagine them all getting blown up in an epic action film. I thought that would be the best use of a place that is already a setting for druggies and gangstas. It all needed to be demolished anyways. But no, we must have careful remediation and demolition processes to correctly handle and dispose the asbestos, lead, radiological, and chemical contaminants. We also had to look out for "materials potentially possessing an explosive hazard" with the chance that one of them could take care of the demolition job for us anyways.
